we are here and you should be

have you ever believed in something so much that it makes you crazy when no one else seems to recognize it? well that is what we do here at artspace. we believe in what we produce. from food to exhibit, we love and create the best. my grandmother( step grandmother by marriage) is 94 years old. she should have been chronicled in our exhibit except that it never occurred to me that she was that old because she is so vibrant and clear. i stopped, and i am busy, to listen to her this week and i was amazed.

stop by this week and hear what our elders have to say. it will touch your life. have a reuben or the new roast beef sandwich. like your in depth inquiry into the elders in your life, you will not be disappointed.

oh yeah order your holiday pie today!!!

We're serving it up!

The quesadilla's are a huge hit here so if you haven't stopped by to try one you might want to before we sell out! Steak was such a big success that we are doing chicken as well. To add to the weekly special we are also doing our salmon bagels again. These however will be served with cream cheese, chives, lettuce and smoked salmon all on a toasty bagel.

The weather is so awesome outside also, so don't be stuck inside! It's a great chance to go for a short stroll and have a cup of coffee with a friend and enjoy carrot, Italian cream cake, or caramel apple bread pudding served with succulent cranberries.

We are also starting a 'Support your local cafe' campaign! Every month (maybe more often than that even!)we will be offering free desserts or other things of the such. Who isn't interested in free food!? I will be checking in with Sydney to find out what the special word of the week is and if ya'll come in and tell your waitress when you order, you'll get a free dessert! But it will change every so often so you have to keep checking back!

So let's start this off this week! This week's word is ZOMBIE. Don't forget it! Let's get the ball rolling in supporting the local things we have here! When the farmer's market kicks back up we will be buying as much local things as we can to support the cause. Thanks for keeping posted!

Farmer's Market Fun

This morning I was up and at the Farmer's Market by 6:45am. Crazy, I know. But I was on a mission. This week I have a private dinner at artspace for 40. On the menu is a spinach salad with fried green tomato. I bought some beautiful tomatos last week and Iwas determined to get more. I was successful and this batch is prettier than the last. Come see us this week and taste how wonderful locally grown produce can be. Ipicked up a bunch of fun fruits and veggies. Don't get me started on the homemade granola and locally roasted coffee. I think fresh produce makes people happy.

We played the perfect southern host offering our guest red beans and rice, jambalaya, and baked ham with ruston peach chutney. These cyber innovators were treated to local art, cuisine, musicians, and hospitality. Many purchased local sourced gift items from our giftspace. I even saw quite a few science and tech guys with to go plates. Our jambalaya at 2 am in a hotel room! perfection.

where the wild things are...

Tonight the cafe@artspace hosted the Louisiana Restaurant Association. About 50 local restauranteurs and business owners were treated to a WILD night. Executive Chef Sydney Bell created a delightful menu that featured Caribou sirloin on a bed of wilted kale and drizzled with wild mushrooms. Sous Chef Eric Davis revived a classic with his take on a baked Alaska with homemade chocolate covered espresso bean sheep's milk ice cream. Now that was a mouthful that was a delicious mouthful. Tossing and turning wondering what to create for lunch tomorrow. I 've got it! you will have to come and see for yourself.

This week at the cafe@artspace

You have loved our Turkey Pastrami Reuben, try our traditional take on this great classic. Black Angus Pastrami Reuben with your choice of fresh fruit( a downtown favorite), homemade potato salad ( the tourist bureau's #1 pick), or potato chips. $5.00
Take a mini vacation with a slice of our Key Lime Pie! A little old lady from Boca Raton swore it was better than any she had back home. I believe her.
What better way to celebrate a sunny day than with homemade sorbet. I love the pineapple, the strawberry, and the blueberry. My favorite is the blueberry. Dont tell the others. The pineapple is sentive!

If that isn't enough to entice, come and see the exhibit. The Art of Cuba shouldn't be missed.
